Last month we informed you about the return of the legendary Triphouse Rotterdam ‘King of the Beat Battle’ producer contest, which will be held on Wednesday April 10th at BAR. We invited all electronic music producers to participate in this epic showdown, and to our own surprise we’ve reached the maximum number of competitors within a couple of days after announcing the event. With just a couple of weeks to go till the showdown, it is now time to reveal who’s taking place in the honorable jury panel and off-course what’s at stake for the eager participants!
For those who are not familiar with the beatbattle concept, here’s a short explanation of what is going to happen. All producers will receive the same sample pack and will get one hour to produce the loop of all loops (without the use of additional VST sounds). After this hour they will play their loop over the big soundsystem to the jury, their peers and audience. This jury of veteran producers and label owners will decide the winner (1st, 2nd and 3rd place), and thus who will receive eternal honor and glory, the ‘King Of The Beat Battle’ trophy, a bottle of champagne and loads of other prizes provided by our sponsors. Before we show you the prizes let’s first introduce the jury members, three icons of the Rotterdam scene!
Serge (Clone)
Serge is the man responsible for large swathes of the best electronic music out there thanks to his Clone empire. A store in Rotterdam as well as a whole network of labels, he A&Rs everything from classic house to banging basement tracks to seminal electro from the most respected names in the scene. His own productions maybe few and far between but never fail to impress, whilst his greatest skill might be as a DJ: he is someone who unearth tunes you’ve never heard before from across the ages, threads them together almost magically and has done so at every major festival and club around the world worth its salt.
Benny Rodrigues (Soma, Klockworks)
Arriving in the scene around the change of the century he settled himself at the center of things in a very short period of time and went on to become one of the most in demand disc jockeys of the country. His spectacular rise has been a class example of how a profound love for music and hard working can get you anywhere. Benny proves time after time that he is one of the most versatile and talented artists around and with the current string of releases under his ROD alter ego, he is proving himself a major force on the international scene.
Raoul (Syncom Data)
A long time music freak and record collector since ’88. Raoul started deejaying at birthday parties in primary school, evolving into a passion for house, techno and dance music in general. He has been playing and organizing underground parties in and around the Hague (and the rest of Europe) since the turn of the millennium. He has released his own music on legendary underground labels such as Clone, Bunker and Strange Life. As co founder of Syncom Data and the related SD Records label he’s always keeping an eye out for talented electronic musicians.

Soundkings Studio
Soundkings biedt de winnaar van de Triphouse Rotterdam ‘King of the Beat Battle’ een gratis mixage van een eigen productie. Mocht de winnaar behoefte hebben aan het bijwonen van de mixsessie voor dé tips & tricks is dat ook mogelijk. De Soundkings Studio focust zich op muziekproductie en trainingen. Zij is een jonge tak binnen het bedrijf Soundkings; het in 2007 opgerichte platform wat onder andere een podium en ondersteuning biedt aan opkomende elektronische muzikanten en dj’s.
Met de groeiende vraag van artiesten om hun product naar een hoger niveau te brengen, is het idee ontstaan een studio te bouwen. Hierin kunnen ervaren producers en engineers op een goed gefaciliteerde centrale plek muzikanten ondersteunen om dit streven te verwezenlijken. Rotterdam Mastering is een muziekmastering service, met als hoofdkwartier de Soundkings studio. Rotterdam Mastering specialiseert zich vooral in elektronische muziek. Jeroen Moor en Joram Gabriël, de drijvende krachten achter het bedrijf, en beiden Bachelor in Music, hebben reeds jaren onder de radar geopereerd voor vele producers en mede studenten voordat ze besloten Rotterdam Mastering op te zetten. Sober Industies
Het multidisciplinaire kunstcollectief Sober Industries bestaat sinds 2009. Ze zijn gespecialiseerd in het ontwikkelen van multimediale en creatieve concepten waarin de nieuwste technologieen worden verwerkt. In tegenstelling van wat de naam doet vermoeden staat Sober voor diepgang en vernieuwing. Met een keur aan internationale topartiesten op het gebied van house en techno, maakt het Nijmeegse Drift Festival zijn reputatie als progressief en actueel dancefestival wederom waar. De huidige voorhoede van muzikale bolwerken als Detroit, Chicago en Berlijn, is aankomend Pinksterweekend aanwezig op het vertrouwde Vasim-terrein in de Waalstad. Tegendraads, the label by Thijs van Buuren is responsible for the Triphouse Rotterdam t-shirt line. This Rotterdam based artist works his magic through his embroidery machine.
